Stop the Billionaires @ CCSF
Organizing with Oil and Gas Action Network
Fellow: Madi Raasch
Campus: City College of San Francisco
π£ CURRENT ACTION: Stop Peter Thiel at Commonwealth Club
The Commonwealth Club is hosting billionaire tech-oligarch Peter Thiel for a lecture series. Thiel founded Palantir - the surveillance company enabling ICE deportations, Gaza genocide support, and mass public surveillance of our communities.
Why This Matters:
The Commonwealth Club's mission is to "contribute to an informed and engaged democratic citizenry" - but Peter Thiel reflects the opposite goals:
- Anti-Democracy: Has publicly stated his opposition to democracy itself
- Attacks Education: Actively supports defunding universities and public education
- Surveillance State: Palantir enables ICE deportations, Gaza genocide, and mass public surveillance
- Techno-Feudalism: Dreams of a society where tech billionaires rule over the rest of us
π URGENT: Make Newsom Keep His Transit Promise
Governor Newsom promised a $750 million emergency loan to prevent massive cuts to BART, Muni, AC Transit, and Caltrain. With just 8 days left to issue the loan, he still hasn't followed through on his promise.
What's at Stake:
- BART, Muni, AC Transit & Caltrain: Facing huge service cuts without this funding
- Community Access: Essential transit that connects our communities
- Broken Promise: Newsom committed to this loan in July - time is running out

π About This Fellowship
I'm organizing at City College of San Francisco as a 2025 Stop the Billionaires Organizing Fellow through the Oil and Gas Action Network (OGAN).
This work is rooted in our community's resistance to billionaire-funded corporate control of our city and state. We are fighting for climate justice, public education, and immigrant rightsβstanding against extractive industries and political systems that prioritize profit over people.
Through this fellowship, I'm building student power at CCSF by running campaigns, educating peers, and taking action alongside community partners.
