π¨ URGENT: Mayor Lurie Must Fully Fund Free City
Mayor Lurie is finalizing his budget proposal RIGHT NOW. San Francisco made a promise: 10 years of Free City funding at $15 million annually plus inflation adjustments. Voters passed Proposition W in 2016. The city signed an agreement in 2019. We're only halfway through that agreement, and the promise is already broken.
What's at stake:
- Free City funding has been slashed: $18.9M (2023-24) β $9.3M (now) β $7.15M (proposed 2026-27). That's less than half what was promised.
- 19,000 current students depend on Free City to afford college
- CCSF's survival: Cutting funding could trigger enrollment collapse and threaten accreditation
- Our city's future: Who will train our nurses and teachers if we cut education access?
During his campaign, Lurie said "We need Free City College." Now, he needs to prove it with his budget. Mayor Lurie will submit his budget in January 2026. This is our ONE CHANCE to act.

π About This Fellowship
I'm organizing at City College of San Francisco as a 2025 Stop the Billionaires Organizing Fellow through the Oil and Gas Action Network (OGAN).
This work is rooted in our community's resistance to billionaire-funded corporate control of our city and state. We are fighting for climate justice, public education, and immigrant rightsβstanding against extractive industries and political systems that prioritize profit over people.
Through this fellowship, I'm building student power at CCSF by running campaigns, educating peers, and taking action alongside community partners.
